On a breezeway between garage and house, 7 years old, as was my out-of-town guest, who I did not know: we had been tasked with getting rid of the few fat flies so the adults could come out and drink, smoke, eat; drink and smoke some more, in peace. We had swatters, which often stunned or disabled, at least temporarily. I don’t remember who had the idea first. We both participated, even setting some of the wingless in a dish of water. We watched and laughed stupidly at their circular antics. Science without a con-science. What is a fly without wings? Got old quick, as the Adults started asking questions, wanting to indulge.

Every so often, I recall some of my various cruel, stupid, abusive antics. Not interested in that stuff anymore; too close to the end of the line. Not enough time to make amends. If I need to kill an insect, so be it, but let it be done. Forgive me, or not, I sin.

Mercy: Not getting what I deserve.

Grace: Getting what I don’t deserve.

Your postcards from life are very evocative; my comments run on...

I am happy of your run on comments and your play.

How close are you to the end of the line? Was a date given?

My fault if I come off maudlin; still miles to go before the ‘average US male life expectancy.’ No MD has diagnosed anything terminal, and have been consciously staying away from the medical profession. Been trying to live as if it’s one day at a time, relaxed.

One last: I have been reading Midwest Dr. The other day I suddenly gut-felt skeptical. Old news. Persistent typos and just too many words for too little content. Embedded? Sad times.

That's curious what you say about Midwest Dr.

It is a hard time to know what's up, what's down. It's the first piece I have read of his.

It didn't hit me as suspicious though.

Many are guilty of typos these days. I've been noticing it more and more in the past two years.

I stay away from MDs as well. I have no health insurance so that makes it easier. I don't do drugs.

You have every right to be, as you say, maudlin. What is happening is horrific.

And you are completely welcome here.

Can I ask your age?

Will be 74 7/11/22. God willing.

Fun and insightful expatriate writes “The Good Citizen” from Poland on Substack. I pay for him.

I get the impression you’re a bit off the grid, yes!, but another resource for news: UK COLUMN NEWS-Bitchute or Rumble. Low budget, no ads, intelligent analysis. Bet Frances watches…

Yeah, moved just before the insanity. Out of one insanity and into another. (with a fair amount of overlap)

I don't have wifi and use my 'unlimited' data up pretty quick.

I'll keep your recommendations in mind though for when I have the head space.

We should all be sobbing right now... it would be a very normal response!

I'm sixty four, waaay too old for all this nonsense.

Besides I was hoping to learn to fly and now I just feel derailed again. 8-(

You have inspired me to at least think, again, about writing. (My favorite today: Walking barefoot.)
