Your words are for you
"Why can't you hear me," I yelled banging my head against what I perceived to be a door.
And so I stayed and tried to reason and conveniently pushed aside the many pieces that called for my attention.
I heard what the pieces were telling me. I read and listened to them carefully. And then I forgot them, dropping them to the floor, stepping on them if need be.
My voice grew louder and louder, "can't you see, can't you see?" "Listen to me!!!"
And then there was silence and a gentle warm breeze.
She's screaming and she needs you to hear her, hold her. I told myself gently. Listen, it's okay.
Listen and breathe and let what wants to come through come through. Listen and breathe. Your words are for you.
