I feel so heartsick, a sweeping interior feeling of emptiness and pain.
Waves quietly moving through me, swelling and mounting, gently subsiding and retreating.
Then swelling and mounting again.
I stood in the path of a wave of destruction.
It had little to do with me, for it couldn't see that I was there.
It had picked up such momentum, knocking things down as it swept along, pulling some out by their roots.
Bashing one thing into another, with little care.
For it was just a wave, long ago having forgotten it was once human.
