What if you think of love differently than you do?
What if there is no room in your heart for me, but your heart is whole and full and filled with the coursing warm blood of you, that makes the choice daily to love.
To love as an orientation of character, a way of being.
Don't name a room in your heart for me, or place me there. Expand and breathe, be large and full and share yourself from there.
I know you love me.
But is my stepping towards you in vulnerability and softness what reaches you?
Can you do that for me?
Yes you make mistakes and cause me pain.
And yes I have little room for pain after a lifetime of too much.
Forgive yourself.
Do the work of leaning into your shadows and embracing, speaking to them, learning and knowing them.
Do the work of integrating all your selves all your behaviors.
Yes love me, but do not call love what is not.
Maybe it is, these behaviors, love for you. Protection of you. And this can be understood. But it is not love for me, nor is there room for love for me.
Love yourself deeply, kindly, gently. Then you will have room for another.
Let go of judgement and the need of. There is no room for love there. Just a fragile, thin, easily destroyed crumbling wall.
Choose love as an orientation of character.
And I will keep working to do the same.
I agree with Frances. ^_^ Good job making a sturdy, concise argument. xo
This is so delicate and strong at the same time! Wow.
